World Ozone Day 2022

World Ozone Day is celebrated every year on 16 September for the protection of the ozone layer. The purpose of celebrating Ozone Day is to attract people’s attention to it. In Canada in 1987, the Montreal Protocol (passed at the Canada Convention) for ozone protection was signed by 36 countries. Which came into effect from January 1, 1989.

World Ozone Day 2022

The concerns of world organizations regarding the emission of carbon on the earth started increasing. Due to which the problem of ozone depletion located in the middle of the Stratosphere in the atmosphere came to the fore. For this reason, every year on 16 September 1995, to make people aware of ozone depletion, we started celebrating International Ozone Day. This year International Ozone Day will be celebrated on Friday, 16 September 2022.

World Ozone Day History

On 16 September 1987 in Montreal, Canada, a meeting was held to address concerns about the ozone hole, in which 31 countries participated. This meeting was named the Montreal Protocol. With effect from 1 January 1989. And it was decided to reduce emissions of CFCs, CO2, a gas that affects the ozone. The goal of this protocol is to control chemicals that damage the ozone layer by the year 2050.

World Ozone Day was celebrated for the first time from 16 September 1995 to make people aware about ozone. At present, 196 countries are included.
